A great feature of Wordpress is that you can install and delete plugins through the FTP functionality in the admin panel. Although it never worked on my locally installed Wordpress. After a couple try-outs, the solution is quite simple, so you can FTP with the user name and password of your computer account.
- Open up your System Preferences
- In your Internet & Network settings, click on Sharing
- Check File Sharing
- Select the File Sharing Options
- Check “Share files and folders using FTP
- Check your user name
- Now you can FTP to your current IP address with the user name and password of your computer
